Make the most out of Social Facebook and Twitter

67% of Twitter users are more likely to buy from a brand that they follow according to Ragan. This means you must make the most out of social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook be being profession, informative, and engaging. Here are some simple tips to improve your Facebook or Twitter page.

Clean and Professional

Your Facebook page or Twitter is a reflection of your brand, so make it as professional as you are. Your cover photo and profile picture should be constant with your brand in terms of color and style. We recommend making the cover photo and profile picture the same on both your Facebook and your Twitter. This will add some uniformity to your company and make it easier for users to recognize you.

Information

42% of users use Twitter to learn more about products and services according to John Rampton of Forbes. Given that there are over 500 million Twitter users, you want to be able to appeal to that 42%.

The first information you should put on your page is links to your website, times you are open and closed, and your address. Of course a brief description of your company and what you do is needed as well. In addition you might want to put information about who your founders are and the story of how your company got started.

In your posts you should keep the users informed on new developments such as an expected release of a new product or change in days of the week you are open.

Engage

Not only should you tweet or post about changes in your company, but also about educational, informative, or entertaining material that your audience will enjoy or find useful. This can be anything from statistics or facts to videos or articles.

You could also consider offering sweepstakes or contests to your followers. Knowledge of when a contest is will incentivize people to follow you and will reward those that do already follow you.

Another way to engage with your followers is by using social media as a way to answer customer service questions. In fact, 60% of Twitter users following a brand to get customer service support according to MediaBistro. You can do this by answering your most popular and common questions or by responding to individual customer complaints.

#Hashtags#

Whenever you post on twitter or on other social media sites such as Tumblr remember to use hashtags. Hashtags can either be in the middle of your post or at the end. They should be for keywords that related to your post or your company. Do not be afraid to add in silly hashtags such as #throwbackthursday. Hashtags are used to connect other people with your tweet. It is important to use hashtags that are commonly searched but not overcrowded with other posts.

Organize

One of the best features about Twitter and Facebook is you can organize your contacts by creating lists. This allows you to send out group messages to people who fit a certain criteria such as March customer instead of having to send out the messages individually.
